Biography
Solicitor Yvonne Kushnir graduated in law with a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Melbourne. Whilst at university, Yvonne volunteered with a Community Legal Centre and spent time providing legal education and assistance in prisons around Victoria. Yvonne was admitted to legal practice in 2017 after completing a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice. Prior to joining the team in 2018, Yvonne spent four months working on death penalty cases at the Louisiana Capital Assistance Centre in New Orleans. During this time, Yvonne assisted defence counsel with trial strategies, mitigation material, and helped to prepare a Petition which was filed in the United States Supreme Court.
Yvonne works to ensure the best possible results for her clients, understanding that each matter and each person is different. Her strong professional relationships with experienced counsel and services including in-patient rehabilitation and housing workers help to give clients the best opportunity of receiving a fair outcome.

Yvonne appears daily as an advocate in Magistrates’ Courts, County Courts and Children’s Courts around Victoria. She also instructs in complex Supreme Court hearings. Yvonne has experience in both trial and appellate jurisdictions, and deals with all types of matters including homicides, drug offences, serious assaults, sexual offences, property offences and driving offences.
