Thomas commenced legal practise as a criminal defence lawyer at the Christchurch Public Defence Service, in 2014, dealing in both summary and indictable matters as well as trial work, before moving to work in the United Kingdom, in 2017.
Whilst in the UK, Thomas developed his experience by working as an advisory lawyer in financial crime for Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs and in commercial litigation at Simmons & Simmons. After becoming admitted to practise in Victoria in 2021, Thomas assisted counsel in the Royal Commission into Abuse in Care in New Zealand and subsequently joined the Slades & Parsons team in July that year.

Thomas holds a double degree in Bachelor of Arts and Law (BA/LLB) from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand
