Legal Aid

Not everyone charged with a criminal offence can afford private legal representation. Many people will need to rely on funding from Victorian Legal Aid. To qualify for legal aid, you must satisfy the relevant income means tests, and your case must also be deemed to have sufficient merit. We are happy to discuss the relevant criteria with you, and to advise you as to whether you are likely to be granted aid. We can also assist you in filling out the relevant forms. Our initial consultation with you is provided free of charge, so you are not making any financial commitment in speaking with someone from our firm.

Many people mistakenly assume that if Victorian Legal Aid is funding their case, that they must also be represented by a Legal Aid Lawyer. This is not the case at all. In reality, clients who are funded by VLA can choose to be represented by a private firm, such as ours. The choice is yours. We offer the same high level of service to our privately funded clients as well as to our Legal Aid clients.

If you wish to apply for legal aid, please contact us and we will assist you in your application. If you choose to be represented by our firm, there is no need for you to contact Victorian Legal Aid directly.
